YUVAM Participation Account

YUVAM Participation Account

With the YUVAM Participation Account, you can benefit from an additional return rate of up to 3% without being affected by exchange rate fluctuations.

The YUVAM Participation Account is an advantageous Turkish Lira account type that allows non-residents living abroad to evaluate their savings in banks in our country, and provides a guaranteed additional return as well as exchange rate protection by the Central Bank.

  •  The YUVAM Participation Account is opened by converting US Dollar (USD), Euro (EUR), British Pound (GBP), and Swiss Franc (CHF) currencies into Turkish Lira.
  •  YUVAM Participation Accounts can be opened with 3, 6, and 12-month maturities.
  •  The YUVAM Participation Account can only be opened upon confirmation of a document certifying that the foreign currency amount to be used is transferred from abroad or has arrived from abroad as physical currency.
  •  For foreign currency amounts converted into YUVAM Participation Accounts, the additional return calculated over the annual return rates determined below according to maturity groups is paid to the account holder in Turkish Lira by the Central Bank.

Annual Return Rates:

Term Additional Return Rate
3 Months  %1
6 Months  %2
12 Months  %3
  •  Accounts are opened by converting existing USD, EUR, GBP, and CHF balances in banks into Turkish Lira at the CBRT conversion rate on the transaction day.
  •  In conversion transactions, the latest foreign exchange buying rate announced by the CBRT as of the hour the foreign currency is converted into Turkish Lira (at 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00, and 15:00) is used.
  •  Relevant legislation provisions regarding withholding tax rates to be applied to the obtained profit will be taken into account.

At Maturity:

  •  If the maturity-end exchange rate is lower than the conversion rate, the bank pays the account holder the participation account balance (principal + profit) and the additional return.

If the Maturity-End Exchange Rate is Higher Than the Conversion Rate:

  •  If the profit share amount > exchange rate difference, the bank pays the account holder the participation account balance (principal + profit) and its additional return.
  •  If the total amount of principal + profit share is less than the principal + additional return determined by the CBRT, the difference is paid to the account holder by the bank.
  •  If the profit share amount < exchange rate difference, the bank pays the account holder the amount of principal + profit share + (exchange rate difference – profit share) + additional return.

In Case of Withdrawal Before Maturity:

  •  If the foreign exchange buying rate announced by the Central Bank at 11:00 on the withdrawal date is higher than the conversion rate, no payment will be made regarding the exchange rate difference. Only the principal of the account will be paid.
  •  If the foreign exchange buying rate announced by the Central Bank at 11:00 on the withdrawal date is lower than the conversion rate, the account balance will be updated based on the foreign exchange buying rate announced by the Central Bank at 11:00 on the date the account is closed before maturity. In this case, there will be a loss in the account's principal.

Returns to be Obtained Upon Opening a YUVAM Participation Account:

  •  If you open a YUVAM Participation Account, you will receive "Principal + Profit Share + Additional Return" if the exchange rate at maturity is lower than the conversion rate, and "Principal + Profit Share + Additional Return + Exchange Rate Difference" if the maturity-end exchange rate is higher than the conversion rate.
  •  If you wait until the maturity date, you will obtain a higher return in any case compared to holding foreign currency, and you can repurchase foreign currency at the end of the maturity.

Advantages of the YUVAM Participation Account:

  •  Protects your savings against exchange rate risk.
  •  Provides additional return in addition to principal guarantee in foreign currency at maturity.
  •  Contributes your savings to the national economy.
  •  Your exchange rate difference and additional return are under the guarantee of the Central Bank.
