2020

  • We implemented the Zero Waste Project in September 2022 by fulfilling all the criteria in the Zero Waste Regulation of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change at our Head Office, additional service building and all our branches. We became the first participation financial institution to start operations in this field by obtaining the Zero Waste Certificate in the second year of its establishment.

2021

  • We created the infrastructure for thematic sukuk (lease certificate) issuances by creating our first Sustainable Finance Framework Document.
  • As of June 2021, we started offering our "Becoming a Customer via Video Call" service, which allows customers to become a Emlak Katılım customer, via our mobile application.
  • With the CepPOS application we launched in 2021, we enabled our customers to receive fast payments by turning their mobile phones into POS devices. With this innovative product, we were awarded third place in the Digital Channels category at the IDC Finance Technology Awards 2021.
  • On November 10, 2021, we issued Turkey's first green sukuk based on labor-capital partnership, with a maturity of 371 days and an amount of approximately 52 million TL, through the Special Fund Pool (ÖFH). We used the funds from the green sukuk issuance to finance projects within the Special Purpose Fund (ÖFH) that make a positive contribution to climate change and the environment. According to the Fund Utilization and Impact Report, we contributed approximately 2,000 tons to the annual net carbon emission reduction through the financing of projects that are subject to green sukuk issuance and serve the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals. The issuance was deemed worthy of the best sukuk issuance of the year award in the world by sector at the IFN Awards 2021 organized by Islamic Finance News (IFN), one of the leading publications in the Islamic finance markets.
  • On December 24, 2021, we facilitated the issuance of Turkey's first Green Lease Certificate based on a Work Contract, with a two-year maturity and a value of TL 600 million, within the scope of the Istanbul Financial Center (IFM) Project, carried out by TVF İFM A.Ş., a 100% subsidiary of the Turkey Wealth Fund. In this context, the Green Lease Certificate Based on Work Contract, offered for the first time in Turkey, was one of the first steps towards the IFM's goal of becoming the center of Islamic finance. This green sukuk issuance was deemed worthy of the most successful local currency issuance of the year award at the “Bonds, Loans & Sukuk Turkey 2022” award ceremony of GFC Media, one of the prestigious awards in the financial sector.
  • In accordance with the principles of interest-free finance, we began to support the agricultural sector by meeting the financing needs of storable agricultural product producers through Electronic Product Receipts (ELÜS).
  • As part of our collaborations with our stakeholders, we have provided affordable financing support to companies seeking to benefit from solar energy through our renewable energy leasing financing and flexible payment plans.

2022

  • We offer our customers Green Vehicle Financing to finance environmentally friendly electric and hybrid vehicles that have lower carbon emissions than internal combustion engine vehicles.
  • We established the Sustainability Committee to review and decide on the recommendations of the Sustainability Working Groups and the Sustainability Service. We established three sub-working groups under the Committee: Financial Sustainability, Corporate Sustainability and Climate Risk and Reporting Working Groups.
  • Within the scope of the "Green Debt Instrument, Sustainable Debt Instrument, Green Lease Certificate, Sustainable Lease Certificate Guide" (Guide), which was implemented by the Capital Markets Board (SPK) on February 24, 2022, we mediated the issuance of a green sukuk worth TL 50 million by a recycling company for the first time in Turkey. This issuance is also important as it is the first issuance made within the scope of the Guide.
  • We successfully completed our second green sukuk issuance on November 14, 2022, with a 430-day maturity and a 500 million TL amount, under the 2 billion TL sustainable/green lease certificate issuance program we received from the SPK in October 2022 under the Guidelines The funds from the issue were used in an environmentally friendly, LEED Gold certified green building project.
  • We have launched our Project Preferred Special Fund Pool product, which is an account based on the principle of profit and loss participation. This allows funds deposited in Turkish Lira to our bank to be used by our bank to finance a specific project. No predetermined return is paid to the account holder in return, and the principal is not guaranteed to be repaid in kind.
  • In 2022, we received the "The Future is in Our Hands" award at the awards ceremony organized by the Federation of Turkish Automotive Maintenance Associations (TOBFED) with our "Environmentally Friendly Vehicle Financing" product, which offers special advantages to customers who want to own an electric or hybrid vehicle.
  • By integrating all our ATMs into the Public Joint ATM System (TAM), we have enabled our customers to conduct transactions at all public ATMs. As part of our bank's "Contactless Banking" strategy, we have complied with the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey's QR code standards and offered our customers ATM withdrawals, person-to-person money transfers, and mobile payment services from POS using the TR QR Code from the Mobile Branch.

2023

  • Following the earthquake that struck southeastern Turkey on February 6, 2023, our Bank's Board of Directors donated 1 billion Turkish Lira to help heal the wounds. Additionally, under the coordination of AFAD, we delivered approximately 30 million Turkish Lira in-kind aid to the affected areas.
  • In 2023, Emlak Katılım supported the participation ecosystem by integrating Katılım Finans Kefalet A.Ş. (KFK) to provide and strengthen access to financing for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
  • In March and April, we facilitated the issuance of green lease certificates worth a total of 100 million TL for a stakeholder operating in the recycling sector. According to the Fund Utilization and Impact Reports we prepared regarding the sukuk issuances in question, the generation of 48,351 tCO2e was prevented thanks to the recycling of scrap waste procured with the funds obtained from the issuances. Thus, by preventing waste generation with the funds obtained from green lease certificate issuances, waste has been brought into the economy and a positive contribution has been made to climate change by reducing carbon emissions.
  • In May and June, we issued sustainable sukuk with a maturity of 1 year, amounting to 100 million TL and 200 million TL, respectively. We used the funds from these sukuk issuances to finance projects that contribute to combating climate change and social development.
  • We have begun work to prepare our sustainability strategy document and revise our policies within the framework of sustainability.
  • We published our first sustainability report prepared in accordance with GRI Standards.
  • We launched our Earn with Producer Account product in 2023 to our customers to finance the purchase of all kinds of new movable and immovable property that can be subject to financial leasing for legal entities that produce and support production.
